MAN BIO101: Welcome!

Here's where to go for help finding an article for Biology.

Welcome to the library guide for BIO 101 taught at UW-Manitowoc!

This guide will direct you through the stages of searching for, identifying, and retrieving a research article for your assignment.  Each of you will find one article today.  It's a good idea to collect more than one so that if you find you don't enjoy working with one, you have another at hand.

By the end of class, students will have the opportunity to:

  • Identify a subject and come up with key words to use in a search.
  • Differentiate between general and specific terms
  • Use the general topic to identify a database using the Databases by Subject list
  • Search a database using specific search terms
  • Identify a peer reviewed research article.
  • Use finding tool features to limit and filter results and print or email an article to yourself.

I hope that you each find an article that is interesting and enjoyable to work with!

Please let me know if I can help you with this assignment or with any other research need.
